Just like Grandma used to make!
4 Tbsp Butter
¼ Tsp Salt
2 Tbsp Sugar
2 ½ Tsp Baking Powder
¾ Cup Milk
Add all of the ingredients together in a large bowl and mix with your hands. Knead the dough until it turns into a smooth ball. Don’t forget to take off your rings! This recipe is all approximate. If you find the dough too soft add flour. Alternatively if you find it too thick add more milk. The dough bakes best if it is just slightly on the soft side. Like all recipes from my grandmother’s era you will have to play around with it a little to get it exactly how you like it to be.
Roll dough out on a floured surface and use a round cookie cutter or a glass to cut into biscuit shapes. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. If you place the biscuits closer together they will turn out softer. Don’t put them so close together that they actually touch however because this will prevent them from cooking properly.
Bake biscuits for 25-30 minutes in a 350° oven. You want them to be just slightly browned if they get too brown they will be tough. They are the best fresh out of the oven with butter and honey! This is a pretty versatile recipe you can add cheddar, ham, bacon, jalapeno or even raisins. You can also make an indent in the top and fill it with jam! Use your imagination and have fun with it.
