Delicious!! These are one of my Mom’s favorite hor d’ourves. They are salty and crunchy. It’s hard to eat just one. They are the perfect sweet and salty combo when dipped in plum sauce. Thinking about them is actually making me want to drive to the store so I can make them.
1 can water chestnuts
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 package bacon
plum sauce for dipping
Open the can of water chestnuts and drain the liquid. Pour the soy sauce over top of the water chest nuts and let them soak stirring occasionally. Fry the bacon or roast it in the oven. Be sure to not over cook the bacon as you want it to still be flexible enough to wrap the water chestnuts. Cut each strip of bacon in half and wrap it around a water chestnut fastening it with a tooth pick. Spread the bacon wrapped water chestnuts out on a cookie sheet and bake in the oven for 5-8 minutes or just long enough to heat the water chestnuts through. Serve with plum sauce for dipping.
